Alphabetizing Words
How to place words in alphabetical order:
- Compare the words letter by letter until the corresponding letters are different.
- The word with the letter that comes first in the alphabet is placed before the other word.
Example 1: Alphabetize big and dog
The first letters are different (b and d), so place big before dog.
Example 2: Alphabetize running and runner
The fifth letters (i and e) are the first letters that are different. The letter e comes before the letter i in the alphabet, so runner would come before running.
